Oratorical Contest

The purpose of The American Legion’s National High School Oratorical Contest is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States on the part of high school students. Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly and intelligently, and the preparation for acceptance of the duties and responsibilities, the rights and privileges of American citizenship.

You are eligible to participate if you are a citizen and a lawful resident of Tennessee and are a bona fide student under the age of 20 years on the date of the National Oratorical Contest (National Oratorical Information) and are in grades 9 through 12 of a school, or home school student, in Tennessee.

Detailed information is mailed to all schools by October 1st each year.  Students need to contact the School Counsel/Adviser for information; or obtain an application at www.tennesseelegion.org and file the application NO LATER than Jan 10, 2022 with the Department of TN Headquarters.
